For the pictures, I am playing catch-up. Here are some albums from our trips visiting my family in Oregon, and BJ's grandparents in Arizona.
As for goings- on, Gabe just turned 11 months old. He is loving table food, not so much baby food any more. He still loves bath time and Cheerios and going outside. He has recently learned how to throw a tantrum- high pitched screaming and all. Mainly when it is time to go to sleep. Darn. We are trying to figure out something new to help him fall asleep by himself, but it seems like whatever we try, he just wants to be held or to sleep in our bed. Any suggestions? Gabe now walks across the room with the aid of his favorite toy- an activity walker, and pulls himself up to stand on anything stationary. He is a generally happy little guy, and we get a kick out of watching him grow and develop. He has had some chronic ear infections, but was just checked out by his pediatrician and everything was A-OK.
Today we are all recovering (and feeling much better) from the stomach flu. Isn't that the worst? I would just like to say that I love Ginger Ale and Jello.

I have no children. So I'm going to give completely uneducated and unknowledgeable suggestions. :-D Just let him scream himself out for several nights in a row, no matter how long it takes... There. Isn't that great?! You should always take suggestions from someone who doesn't have kids and knows nothing about it, right? :-D Hehe.

Gabe is an A-OK kid. ;-)
I know he is. He's a wee cutie-pie. I'm just shooting off my mouth because the post said, "Any suggestions?" so I contributed. :-D I told you not to listen to me!

Actually, I think it is a great suggestion, and I appreciate it! It is kind of what we think we should do, but it is good to hear what other people think (even if you don't have children) because sometimes it is hard to know if your ideas are going to spoil your child, scar them for life, or, you know, just be crazy. So input is good. :D
No, I don't think you're crazy, and I don't think that you're going to scar him for life. :) And while I don't have kids, the suggestion was actually something that my mom always did (there were 6 of us! She'd have gone nuts trying to hold everyone til they go to sleep) and it's something that my bro and sis-in-law do with my niece. I just didn't know how well-received it might be so I couched it the way I did. It'll probably drive you guys insane for a while listening to him scream for that long, but it'll be OK - he'll learn pretty quickly that it doesn't do any good and he might as well just go to sleep. lol.

When did your family get goats? Fun!
And I love your new picture at the top of the blog, so cute and summery!
I just love how excited Gabe is to be in the water, pure bliss!
I have no advice about bedtime, I think there are a lot of techniques, and you just have to find the one that fits for your family.
Looking forward to Thursday night! :)
Aw, I am sorry that you were all sick. I hope you are feeling better! I love the pictures of Gabe smiling in the grass, and I also love your new picture at the top! It is so sunny and classic looking.
OK, I shot like a gazillion pictures of you guys that day. Are those the only ones that turned out? I guess Gabe was a bit out of sorts wasn't he. I love the splashing pics and the hair cut pics and the vacation pics and - all the pics actually.
Looks like a fun summer so far! Aside from being sick that is :-) Glad you are all feeling better!
As for bed time, I'm such a softy and usually didn't do the cry it out thing. Even when we tried it and sometimes it worked, it seemed like something would happen like travel or illness and throw them right back to where we started. I found that developing a really good routine worked best. Then they knew what was coming, and after a while stopped fighting it as much. If he's been sleeping in bed with you guys much, that's a hard habit to break. I'm not criticizing you if you are though, because you really just have to do what works for you and what helps you survive! Braden was a family bed kid. It's what I ended up needing to do at the time. I know you guys will figure something out! Good luck! LOVE the pics of Gabe in the pool!
just fun to read through- the trip and the mouse pad, and the not sleeping. humph. well- it's a difficult thing and really- it's up to you and your baby because what works for one family doesn't for another. you'll figure it out, i'm sure!
i love gabe's haircut! super cute and boy doesn't he look older? wow!
can't wait to see you at the end of next week :)
